Industry leader, Michael O'Rourke, has created the Institute of Courage, an inspirational and educational retreat nestled in the hills of the Santa Monica Mountains, where YOU are invited to join fellow courageous salon professionals in the quest for accomplishing balance, artistry, and business success. Michael discovered the location for his Institute one day while he was out exploring the hills near Malibu.
The Institute of Courage is a truly magical place, nestled deep in the woods of Topanga Canyon, just outside of Los Angeles, California. Formerly an old Spanish-style potter’s studio, the building and grounds were redesigned into a state-of-the-art hairdressing school with an opulent, rustic-chic flair.
From the tranquil, open-air loggia where one can sit and enjoy the sounds of the creek to the lush dining room with its 17-foor walnut dining table, each room at the Institute was designed to encourage creativity, conversation and personal balance as students learn new technical skills based on Michael’s signature cutting style – Structure in Motion™. The Theatre Room is the main learning area where each ornate station consists of a mirrored, frescoed armoire that conceals a camera which record students’ moves as they learn and projects them on a monitor to the side.
The programs offered allow attendees to explore the depths of their creativity while experiencing a meditative retreat to fuel the creative spark.
